John Paul Green introduces Pontypool (2008)
Taking inspiration from Orson Welles’ radio play of War of the Worlds, Bruce McDonald’s Pontypool does for the living dead, what Let the Right One In did for vampires. Set in the radio station of a small Canadian community, this is an inventive, intelligent and refreshing horror movie, which moves away from the usual visceral excess expected of zombie movies to create a claustrophobic and thoughtful suspense chiller. Think Talk Radio meets Dawn of the Dead.
